Can a single power point be changed out to a double power point?
Yes, this is easily done. As long as the orientation stays the same. Sometimes the flush box in the wall needs to be replaced too as the double power point doesn’t always fit. It is possible to change from a vertical power point to a horizontal power point, but patching will be required
I have old style double width switches and power points, can these be upgraded to a modern style?
Yes, PDL make a conversion plate to easily upgrade these old switches and power points
Can I add a dimmer to control any light fitting?
No, it depends on the type of light fitting. Incandescent and halogen can be dimmed. Most fluorescents cannot be dimmers and most LEDs can be dimmed as long as they are dimmable model. LED strip lighting can be dimmed if the driver is dimmable.
Is there a preferred or recommended brand to stick with?
We can only install items that’s have a NZ supplier declaration of conformity. All of the reputable brands have this. Steer clear of unknown brands or items that have been imported without an SDOC.
What is the average price to upgrade sockets and switches?
It will depend on the brand you choose, the coverplate you choose and the types of switch mechs, dimmers and accessories you decide to go with. It is best to call us to arrange a quote on 0508 STRIKE
